Your Money or Your Life
Twenty-first century Britain is heavily in debt. In April 2006:
- The average household debt in the UK is approximately £7,796 (excluding mortgages) and £47,546 including mortgages.
- 14 million adults (35%) rely on their overdrafts to get by each month.
- 8 million British workers (21%) don’t have any pension provision.
To help us reflect on these issues and potential ways to address the problem, our partner organisation Business in Glasgow (BiG) is holding a special event on Tuesday 2nd May.
Keith Tondeur, the founder and National Director of Credit Action will be speaking on the topic “Your Money or Your Life“, at 7.30pm in the Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street. There will also be an optional buffet meal at 6pm, costing £10. Further details and booking instructions are available on the BiG website.
Keith is also speaking at BiG’s regular monthly “First Tuesday” slot at 12:45pm on 2nd May, this month hosted by the Clydesdale Bank Financial Solutions Centre in Waterloo Street. His topic will be “How do I help a colleague, client, friend or relative who is struggling with debt“. Again, further details on the BiG website.
