Launch of new apbc.net site

Welcome to the new apbc.net website.

This new version of the site is designed using a WordPress blogging engine, and this means that it should:

  • be easier to edit by a computer literate admin group - with no coding involved
  • have a cleaner design
  • have a regularly updated news section
  • allow site visitors to comment on each item
  • permit user registration and security access levels so that we can have private areas of the site for church members (such as a full contact list or storing meeting minutes)
  • allow the addition of new modules
  • make available XML feeds using RSS and Atom, so that visitors can be automatically updated when there is new content

I have moved across most of the items on the old site, but the old site is still available in case you’ve lost something. I still need to complete the move across of other specific parts of the old site (such as the WT rota and the full contact list), and add in a few more pictures to make the site more interesting.

I’d appreciate any comments or suggestions you have on the new site.

Update 20/10/05: New Help and Instructions available.

Darn now I see where I should have posted this:
    Dear Adelaide Place Baptist Church,
I was just browsing church websites and thought your one looked really nice (well presented and useful info). So much so that I wanted to read on… I was really excited to hear about your nursery and B and B in the town centre - really unsual and cool way to reach out within a city centre. Didn’t know where else to post this but your website is certainly a great way to draw people from the surrounding communities into your church and keeping them informed about other ministries.
Hope your consultancy went well and that your church grows.
    Gordon

additional: hey so it’s a new church website. In which case double congrats to those who’ve been working on it. I had a look at your old website too but the new one is much cleaner.

If you’re interested you may like to read my church website hints and tips at http://www.church123.com. If I may make one suggestion you may wish to think about creating a visitors page see: http://www.thekingschurch.com/visitors.htm for an idea of what I mean.

    Gordon,

Thanks for your kind comments. I agree, a visitors page is a good idea, thanks for suggesting it.
