Visitors from Stockholm: 2-6 November

Stockholm street

Adelaide Place looks forward to the second instalment of the growing relationship between Salem Kyrkan Baptist Church, Stockholm and ourselves.

From Wednesday 2nd November through to Sunday 6th November we are receiving as our guests 8 members of the Salem Kyrken congregation. They will be coming to share some of the experiences of city life here in Glasgow as part of an exchange of ideas and an opportunity to discover how ministry can be delivered in the large cities of our respective countries. This all grew out of a chance visit of Sven-Gunnar Liden and his wife a year or so ago and now is developing into a stronger and firmer relationship.

Our friends from Sweden will be viewing some of the specific issues in Glasgow that we feel they would be interested in as well as discussing how well our own church has progressed over the last 15 years particularly in relation to the business of Adelaides.

Part of our cultural exchange will be entertaining them at a church ceilidh which will take place on Saturday 5th November at 7.30pm and we are particularly expecting a lively event on Guy Fawke’s night!

Remember: Clocks go Back

The clocks go back 1 hour at 2 am on Sunday 30th October.

That means you get an extra hour in bed.

However if you forget and get to church an hour early, there will be hot coffee to waken you up!

Launch of new apbc.net site

Welcome to the new apbc.net website.

This new version of the site is designed using a WordPress blogging engine, and this means that it should:

  • be easier to edit by a computer literate admin group - with no coding involved
  • have a cleaner design
  • have a regularly updated news section
  • allow site visitors to comment on each item
  • permit user registration and security access levels so that we can have private areas of the site for church members (such as a full contact list or storing meeting minutes)
  • allow the addition of new modules
  • make available XML feeds using RSS and Atom, so that visitors can be automatically updated when there is new content

I have moved across most of the items on the old site, but the old site is still available in case you’ve lost something. I still need to complete the move across of other specific parts of the old site (such as the WT rota and the full contact list), and add in a few more pictures to make the site more interesting.

I’d appreciate any comments or suggestions you have on the new site.

Update 20/10/05: New Help and Instructions available.
